>> Want to see our Top Picks for this week instead?
Chabot Space & Science Center | 10000 Skyline Blvd. Oakland, CA
Come watch one of the best annual astronomical events of the year. The Perseids Meteor Shower will make its annual trip through our atmosphere and light up the night sky.
For 2017 the Observatory Deck (which offers breathtaking views 1,500 feet above the Bay) will be open from 12am to 3am for the Meteor Shower with Chabot’s astronomy experts on hand to answer your questions and help you catch a glimpse of the brightest meteors in the night sky.
> Warning Before Attending: Last year, we were told this event can not handle large crowds – So you may be disappointed if you try to attend. We expect it to be the same this year.
Last year, we were also told that the telescopes will likely be closed, we expect it to be the same this year. So bring binoculars or you can probably view the shower with the naked eye (weather permitting)
When: This is a late night event 12am to 3am (we have it listed at 11:59pm on our calendar just so it shows up as the last event on Saturday night, but the event does not begin until 12am)
Where: Observation Deck (located at the rear of the Museum) – Use the outside gate around the back of the Center. Follow the signs to the observatory entrance gate.
Price: Free and open to the public
