CiNCO de MAYO Bicycle Ride Out to benefit the Mission Food Hub. The Ride-Out serves as a healthy community and family event

Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Americas (CANA) will hold a Family Bike Ride-Out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo to raise funds for the Mission Food Hub. The event takes place Sunday, May 2 at 1:00 pm.

The ride begins at Raza Park – Potrero Del Sol Park, 25th Street & San Bruno Avenue, in the Mission District and ends at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Due to restrictions put in place during the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual Cinco De Mayo Grand Parade and Festival will not take place in 2021. The Ride-Out will serve as an alternative celebration for those seeking a healthy community and family event in partnership with Mission Neighborhood Center and with support of Grants for the Arts.

Schedule of event:

  • The event will kick-off with Aztec dancers performing an indigenous ceremonia.
  • 11am – Breakfast and snacks will be served to participants at 11 a.m. at Raza Park.
  • 1pm – The bike ride out begins at 1 p.m. at 24th St. and San Bruno St.
  • The route will take riders west on 24th Street, north on Mission Street east on 16th Street to 3rd Street to the Embarcadero; and ending at Fisherman’s Wharf.
Individuals interested in participating in the Ride-Out are asked to make entry fee contributions in denominations of “five” — $5, $50, $500, $5,000 — in keeping with the Cinco de Mayo theme. Single and team riders are encouraged to participate.
Money raised will benefit CANA-Mission Food Hub. The Hub was created by the community to help meet the needs of Latino families during the pandemic. The Mission Food Hub currently serves 9,000 families facing food insecurity each week.
“The event will help us raise funds so we can keep providing groceries to our community. Since the start of the pandemic, the number of people suffering from food insecurity has increased. This event is a fun and healthy way to promote wellness for our community,” said Roberto Hernandez, Founder of the Mission Food Hub.
