Each year, the Chinese New Year Flower Fair takes place the weekend before the Lunar New Year holiday, so that families can come to the flower fair and purchase their traditional holiday plants, flowers and fruits.

The Fair is typically held a week before Chinese New Year so that people can buy flowers and plants which symbolize growth. If the plant blooms on New Years day it is believed that it will bring extra good fortune.

Set in the heart of San Francisco Chinatown, the fair has a festive atmosphere where about 400,000 people annual come to enjoy traditional Chinese dance, music, art and cultural displays.
