Presidio Kite Expo
Saturday, June 13, 2015 | Noon to 5pm
Main Parade Ground, The Presidio, SF
FREE – RSVP on Eventbrite

The artistry, diversity, and fun of modern flying will take your breath away with free, all-day activities featuring:

  • Kite Making Pavilion – Create your own masterpiece using a free kite making kit, and then take it out for a sail above the beautiful Main Parade Ground. Prizes will periodically be provided for the most beautiful handmade kites. Kids and adults are invited to participate. To reserve your kite-making kit, email jcastillo@presidiotrust.gov. Reserved kites must be picked up by 1 pm.
  • Gallery Walk – Master kite artisans from across North America will display hundreds of their extraordinary creations, including kites of all shapes and sizes. Grab a seat in the bleachers and watch art that can really fly. Then stroll the gallery to meet the artists and see their work up close.
  • Team Kite Ballet – Aerobatic kite teams perform intricate aerial routines that are choreographed to music. They will blow you away.
  • Giant Creature Kites – The famous Berkeley Kite Wrangler Team will showcase their mind-blowing designs. Don’t be surprised to see a 100-foot octopus, teddy bear, or puppy chasing the wind overhead.
  • Food Trucks, Picnic + Kite Flying Area – Grab a bite from Off the Grid or pack your own lunch. Then take your own single line kite for a spin on the lawn.
  • Taiko Drummers – Feel the beat of these traditional performers as they provide a musical backdrop for the day’s festivities.

Sponsored by the Presidio Trust and Highline Kites, founders of the popular Berkeley Kite Festival, which celebrates its 30th year on July 25/26, 2015.
