50 cents

Look forward to:

  • 10AM: Janet Wong of Bill T Jones/ Arnie Zane Company – Making and Doing
We would like to make a spontaneous, site specific work with the participants using movement and choreographic elements that are learned or generated during the course of the class. We will begin with a simple warm-up to prepare the body and mind and then take it from there. Everyone is welcome.
Live Accompaniment will be provided by company dancer and DJ, Antonio Brown.
  • 12PM: Marc Bamuthi Joseph – Can We Design Freedom?
Bamuthi facilitates a writing and movement workshop that responds to this question in poem and urban planning ritual with a late 90’s Brooklyn loft party soundtrack.
  • 1PM: Stacey Printz – Contemporary Jazz
Printz’s contemporary-jazz technique mixes physically charged, fresh, contemporary dance with elements of jazz and hip-hop allowing students the opportunity to bridge the gap between dance genres. We will explore a blended style of dance focusing on musicality, syncopation, detailed gesture, floor work, and athleticism.
  • 2PM: Jocquese – Vogue and Tone
Vogue is characterized by model-like poses, inspired by Vogue Magazine, integrated with angular, linear and rigid arm, leg and body movements. We will cover the six elements of Vogue-ing: hands, spins, catwalk, duck walk, dips and floor performance. Not only will you learn the history of Vogue, but you’ll will receive an intense workout.
