Cute Santa Cruz Turtles All Swaddled Up

The CA native turtles were trapped and swaddled to have CT scans to check their shells

Adorable turtles were caught in traps at Glenwood East Preserve in Santa Cruz County and put in cute swaddles.

They were having CT scans of their shells to check for deficits that may have been caused by a novel fungal pathogen. They were released back into the preserve that same day.

The recently opened Glenwood East Preserve in Scotts Valley is home to California’s only native turtle, the Western pond turtle.  You can learn more about them in the video below:
