You’re invited to celebrate the golden anniversary of the Asian Art Museum during their free 50th Anniversary Community Weekend. With captivating art, music, dance, artist demonstrations and more, this is an extravaganza you won’t want to miss. Since its founding in 1966, the Asian Art Museum has evolved into one of the world’s greatest museums devoted to Asian art.

Enjoy thrilling live performances by Red Panda Acrobats, Southeast Asian Arts and Culture Coalition, Gamelan Anak Swarasanti, Non-Stop Bhangra and the “Twelve Pianos” project. Meet local textile artist Youngmin Lee and calligraphers Kristian Kabuay and Aoi Yamaguchi who’ll treat you to a dynamic demonstration. Create your own inspired artworks and participate in a creative collaboration with Crochet Jam.

Be among the first to see their latest exhibitions Hidden Gold: Mining Its Meaning in Asian Art, Pearls on a String: Artists, Patrons, and Poets at the Great Islamic Courts, and China at the Center: Rare Ricci and Verbiest Maps.

Plus, don’t forget their epic collection galleries — where the magic all started. Take your time and stroll two floors of incredible artworks spanning 6,000 years and a vast continent.

What’s a birthday party without ice cream? In celebration of the museum’s anniversary, Humphry Slocombe created a limited-edition signature flavor, Adzuki Almond Cookie. You can grab a half-pint for $5 bucks in the cafe.
