San Jose Teen Artist Makes Cover of Time Magazine
Time Magazine just named their Athlete of the Year, Lebron James, and a local San Jose teen made the cover.
14-year old artist Tyler Gordon not only made the cover art for the latest issue, he also was nominated as one of the top 5 finalists for Time’s Kid of the Year.
Tyler has been making quite the name for himself as an up-and-coming artist. Earlier this year, his portrait of Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris went viral, and after she saw his work, she surprised him with a phone call.
He’s been making waves since 2018 when his portrait of NBA star Kevin Durant went viral. The work caught the attention of the basketball player’s mom who bought it for $300. Since then, the young artist has been commissioned by many celebrities including Janelle Monae, Kevin Hart, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and more.
He’s also the youngest artist to be featured in the Beverly Center. Keep an eye on this teen prodigy; he’s going places.
If you’d like to follow along, Tyler hosts an Instagram Live every Wednesday with a teaching tutorial, or follow him on Twitter.
