Thanks to KTVU for sharing the news that one of the Bay Area’s last remaining roller rinks is closing its doors.

As one of the largest roller skating rinks within hundreds of miles, San Ramon’s the Golden Skate, located at 2701 Hooper Drive, has delighted many skaters come from all over Northern California.

Owner Dr. Hassan Sharifi bought the roller rink in 1995 when it was on the verge of closing. He spent years reviving the business, but sadly, the toll from the pandemic was too much to sustain the business. Sharifi announced the roller rink’s closure on the company’s website.

The roller rink will be closing its doors by the end of the year, but has announced that it will remain open through the holidays for everyone to have one last skate.
