Brand New Waterfront Park Coming to Treasure Island (Sept. 13)
San Francisco is about to get a brand new waterfront park with jaw-dropping views you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Cityside Park, planned as a sprawling 24-acre green space, officially opens on Saturday, September 13, 2025, with an Opening Celebration featuring food trucks, live music, and more. For now, visitors will get to explore the first six acres, with more to roll out in phases over the coming years.
The park promises sweeping panoramas of both the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge, plus the city skyline with landmarks like Coit Tower, the Ferry Building, and the Pyramid.
What You’ll Find at Cityside Park
- BBQ & Picnic Areas – Free to use grills and jumbo 20-foot picnic tables built for groups.
- Trails – Walking and biking paths along the waterfront.
- Green Space – Open lawns perfect for relaxing, playing, or just taking in the views.
Weekly Off the Grid Events
The opening day will feature an Off the Grid celebration from 11 am to 4 pm, with food trucks, local vendors, and live music. This marks the start of a weekly Saturday series running through November 1, 2025, bringing Mediterranean flavors, cocktails, and music to Cityside Park every weekend.
Getting There: Ferry, Bus & Parking
-
Treasure Island Ferry – The fastest and most scenic way to the park. The ferry runs from the San Francisco Ferry Building to Treasure Island in about 10 minutes with
- Cost: $5 each way for adults, $2.50 for youth, seniors, or disabled riders, and free for kids 4 and under.
- Weekend schedule: Runs every 30 to 45 minutes. On Saturdays through November, ferry service will run continuously throughout the day with no mid-day break. Reserve Ferry Tickets
- Muni 25 Bus – Departs from Salesforce Transit Center and drops off directly on Treasure Island.
- Driving/Parking – Limited parking is available on the island, so public transit is highly encouraged.
Treasure Island has long been known more for construction zones than community spaces, but Cityside Park is the first major step in transforming the island into a destination for residents and visitors alike. With wide open views, grills ready to fire up, and food trucks rolling in every weekend, San Francisco’s newest waterfront park may make Treasure Island worth the trek.
