CA Closer to Parklets & Outdoor Drinking Forever
Could the popular outdoor dining and parklets become a permanent fixture in California? Will outdoor drinking become commonplace across the state?
Thanks SFist and Broke-Ass Stuart for sharing the news that Senate Bills 314 and 793 have passed unanimously in committee, with bipartisan support. Next up, they’ll move out of committee and be put up to vote by the state legislature.
Senate Bill 314 aims to make California’s liquor laws more flexible and make it easier for bars and restaurants to keep utilizing the newly created outdoor dining spaces and parklets even after the pandemic ends.
A second Senate Bill, SB 793, will relax the rules regarding open-containers, to create designated “entertainment zones.” Plus, it’ll make the process easier for venues to serve alcohol.
