The night before The Big Game between Cal and Stanford, The Cal Rally Committee is building and burning down the largest bonfire west of the Mississippi at 7 pm on Friday, November 22, 2013.

Thousands upon thousands of students, faculty, alumni, and Cal fans fill the entire Greek Theater to participate in the Big Game Bonfire Rally along with a performance by the Cal Marching Band. Members spend the entire Friday of Big Game Week building the structure of pallets, preparing for the fire that reaches almost four stories high.

2013 special events include a 50th anniversary tribute to the Cal Victory Cannon.

Friday, November 22, 2013 | 7 pm
Greek Theatre, Gayley Rd, Berkeley

The Rally is free to anyone. Doors open at 6:00 pm, and seats are limited by wristbands at the door, so arriving early to reserve a seat is advised.

In 2012, this annual event was cancelled, so the 2013 return should be very special.

Alumni come to speak and share stories of past Big Games, while the football team usually makes a quick visit, many different groups perform, cries of “Freshmen, more wood” are heard all night long, and the entire theater sits in the glow of candlelight as the fires dies down.
