Thanks to SFist for sharing the news that San Francisco is getting its first Cannabis Equity Marketplace inside a new mega cannabis dispensary.

The Planning Commision just approved a brand new cannabis dispensary, poised to be one of the biggest in the City. The proposed business, 560 Valencia, will take over the Blu Dot Furniture store on Valencia Street, between 16th & 17th Streets, when their lease expires in June 2021.

At 4,984 square feet, the sizable location will also include a smoking lounge for consumers to indulge onsite.

560 Valencia aims to be San Francisco’s first Cannabis Equity Marketplace. Their goal is to foster equitable access to participation in the cannabis industry, and to help those who have been most impacted by the criminalization of cannabis to benefit from its newly legal status.

They would provide a dedicated rent-free commercial retail incubation space and office space for 3 years for Equity Applicants/Operators (individuals who meet Office of Cannabis’ equity eligibility criteria).

Plus, the business will provide 40-50 jobs with above-market wages and benefits, prioritizing the hiring of Mission residents, people that have been disproportionately impacted and unfairly burdened by the War on Drugs, and people with disabilities.

If it receives approval from SF Office of Cannabis and the state Bureau of Cannabis Control, the shop plans to open in early 2022.
