Celebrate the shortest day of the year with the tallest trees on earth. Come rain or shine, dress warmly, and celebrate the winter solstice at Muir Woods all day.

Winter Solstice in Muir Woods
Tuesday, December 22, 2015 | 8 am to 5 pm
Muir Woods Visitor Center, Marin
$7

Programs will be held during the day to allow the wildlife to celebrate the longest night in the forest, on their own. They will have special guests “John Muir,” story-teller Ane Carla, and Sound Design specialist Dan Dugan offering special programs throughout the day.

Dress warmly and be prepared for a quiet walk in the woods to discover what the season has to share.

Event Warning: This is a very small event; Muir Woods is not set up to handle huge crowds, and the amount of parking is woefully small. So if celebrating the winter solstice is a very important event to you, it might be worth the trip, but if you don’t like crowds or are just going on a whim, we recommend you think twice about making the trek as it’s likely to be too crowded to enjoy.
