It’s been three days since we have posted that City Lights Bookstore Might Close Down Forever, as coronavirus takes its toll on small businesses. But we got good news today!

Thanks to 7×7 for letting us know that City Lights has so far raised $455,000 surpassing their goal of $300,000

Elaine Katzenberger, Publisher, and CEO of City Lights Booksellers & Publishers have posted an update and message via their website and GoFundMe page:

“But today is a triumphant day, and I was there to put signs in our windows that say Thank you for all of the love and support!

They are going to keep the campaign active for as long as there is interest in supporting the bookstore, and will be extremely grateful for any additional funds. Read the full Press Release.

She added, “Although we’ve reached our goal quickly, we are still on unstable ground, and the truth is that we’re not used to asking for help, and so we set a rather modest goal. Anyone who would like to support us further, we encourage you to please do that, and please continue to pass the word. We’re committed to finding a way to bring City Lights forward, and the support we receive here will help us do that!”

Let’s keep City Lights Bookstore Alive! Donate to and share their GoFundMe Page.
