Heartbreaking news from Hoodline, that Mission dive bars Thieves Tavern, Blind Cat are closing for good.

A sad day for Mission dive bar fans, The Blind Cat and Thieves Tavern are closing permanently due to lack of income amidst the pandemic.

Thieves Tavern opened in December 2005 and Blind Cat in February 2006. Though the bar’s social media accounts have not yet posted about the closure. The owner of the popular Mission dive bars, Paul Bavaro, told Hoodline, that both locations will be fully vacated by June 1.

“The hardest part is saying goodbye to customers I’ve been serving for 15 years,” he said.

And though he wishes he could have a goodbye party, “there’s no better goodbye than the Irish exit — by just sneaking out the back door.”

Both dive bars had been around for about 15 years. BrokeAssStuart who was a bartender in the Thieves family of bars way back 2011 also tweeted his disappointment on the closure.
