Dungeness Crab Season Finally Opens For SF/Sonoma Coast Before NYE
Dec. 29 kicks off the long-awaited crab season

Good news for San Francisco Bay Area and Bodega Bay sportfishing boats and local recreational crabbers: The use of crab traps in Fishing Zone 3 (Sonoma/Mendocino county line to Pigeon Point) will be permitted beginning at 9 a.m. this Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.
The commercial crab fishery will open in that area at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, with a pre-soak period to begin at 8:01 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021. The presence of humpback whales within the area has continued to decline, lowering the risk of entanglements.
