Filipino Fast Food Chain Jollibee Returning to Downtown SF
Downtown San Francisco will once again have a Jollibee, the world famous fast food chain that hails from the Philippines. Its previous downtown SF location, near Moscone Center, closed in 2011.
The popular chain filed applications back in 2020 for its new location, and according to the San Francisco Standard, construction is finally underway. Plus, employment opportunities at the new restaurant have been posted as well. However, an opening date has yet to be announced.
With roughly 1,500 restaurants worldwide and over 70 in the US, the chain is famous for its unique comfort food favorites, like its “Chickenjoy,” its specialty fried chicken, their Palabok Fiesta, a traditional garlic noodle dish with crushed pork rind, shrimp, and egg, “Jolly Spaghetti,” and its desserts like Peach Mango hand pie and Halo Halo.
Thanks to SF Chronicle for sharing the news that Jollibee is making its delicious return to The City at the former Payless store location at 934 Market Street next door to Carl’s Jr. and right across the street from Powel St. BART station. The 3,170-square-foot building can seat 28 guests inside.
If you’re jonesing for the “McDonalds of the Philippines” now, you can find 11 locations around The Bay including Daly City, South San Francisco, Hayward, Union City, San Jose, Milpitas, Vallejo, Concord, Fairfield, and Brentwood.
