Kick Ass with Free Karate
Yoga’s nice. You’ll feel healthy, flexible and tranquil for sure. If you want something with more oomph, you might go for Pilates or a Cardio Kickboxing class, full of pumped-up music and spandexed instructors.
But if you’re going for fitness and that don’t-screw-with-me cunning, then Karate’s the thing to try.
Luck would have it, Shockness Shotokan Karate Dojo inside of Club One fitness center is offering completely free classes till the end of February.
Free Shotokan Karate Classes a Week in February 2011:
Location: Shockness Shotokan Karate is inside of Club One Fitness in the Embarcadero Center Building Two at Front St & Clay St. Upstairs on the second floor.
Schedule:
Monday: 3:30 to 5:30pm , 7:30 to 9:30pm
Wednesday: 3:30 to 5:30pm , 7:30 to 9:30pm
Friday: 3:30 to 5:30pm
Saturday: 11:30am to 3:30pmAll you need to do is arrive about 20 mins before class time. You sign in at the front desk and are issued a locker access card to store your stuff and change into your workout clothing—as for that: there’s no fancy uniform needed for now, just wear the same comfortable clothing that you’d wear to a gym.
Your teacher or sensei is Wayne Shockness, a practitioner under Shotokan Karatedo for more than 35 years, and he’s currently one of the few 6th degree blackbelt instructor in the west coast. Bet you didn’t even there were several degrees to a black belt.
The Saturday class will be for beginners (more so than the others) and is taught by Shockness’ pupil and another dojo instructor, Jun Zhao.
The dojo is new at this location so they just wanted to let people in on it. And it’s truly for everyone: students in all age group are welcome with the youngest student just 6 years old. Everyone, of course, has to sign a waiver form for liability matters, but that’s standard protocol.
Call Wayne Shockness at 415-341-2914 for detailed information.
