Free Oakland–Alameda Water Shuttle Expands Service to 6 Days a Week
The Oakland–Alameda Water Shuttle just added more days and later hours to its schedule — and it’s still totally free to ride.
Starting Tuesday, July 8, the 45-foot yellow pontoon boat (yes, it’s called Woodstock) now runs six days a week, Tuesdays through Sundays. The shuttle also added longer hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with service from 7:20am to 10:30pm and up to 63 trips per day.
The boat runs between Jack London Square in Oakland and Alameda Landing (near Target). It takes about 10 minutes to cross and welcomes bikes, strollers, and wheelchairs.
🎉 One-Year Anniversary Party – Saturday, July 13
The shuttle turns one this week, and there’s a small celebration planned at both docks on Saturday, July 13 from 11am to 12:30pm. Expect live music, free treats, and some Woodstock-themed giveaways. No need to RSVP — just show up.
The shuttle recently hit a milestone, serving its 100,000th rider in June, and picked up a regional planning award in May. The service is still in a two-year pilot phase that started last summer, with potential to continue if funding holds up.
