Funcheap $5 Comedy Night

Our big monthly showcase with comics from Conan, America’s Got Talent & Cobb’s
By - posted 4/17/2015 No Comment

San Francisco’s funniest degenerates pay their debts to society with a night of comedy and behind-the-scenes stories of their crimes and how they got caught.

Set in the heart of Chinatown, the Great Star (built in 1925) has all the quirks and charms of an underground comedy theater. The main difference? The caliber of the talent. These comics have performed on Conan, America’s Got Talent, at Cobb’s, the Punch Line and Comedy Day.

Hannibal Thompson | Possession

(Cobbs Comedy Club, Comedy Store – Tours Internationally)

Hannibal Thompson is an accomplished standup comedian and actor who has been performing and studying acting, drama, sketch, and stand-up comedy since he was eight years old. This rising young star is lighting up stages across the country and has worked with comedy heavyweights such as Mark Curry, Sinbad and Bill Bellamy. You may recognize him from leading roles in several recent independent films, or from his commercial work, which is airing nationwide.

Sammy Obeid | D.U.I.

(Conan, America’s Got Talent)

Sammy Obeid is a writer and stand-up comedian. He has released one comedy album, Get Funny or Die Tryin. His comedy is known for its analytic style full of wordplay, clever misdirection and ethnic humor riffing on his Middle Eastern roots (he’s Lebanese-American). Obeid has been featured on Conan and America’s Got Talent. He is best known for performing 1,000 nights of comedy in a row, a current world record.

Chris John | D.U.I.

(Bay Area Sketchyfest)

Christopher John is America’s favorite (only) Gypsy comedian. He is a bit of an odd duck, what with his off-color jokes, unusual appearance, and corkscrew penis. Known for his lack of both inhibition and hair, Christopher’s comedy is somewhere between a Steven Wright audition reel and a manifesto taped in a cabin.

Daniel Bernahicks | Vandalism

(Punch Line Comedy Club )

Hicks is a stand up comedian who still lives with his mom in Oakland, CA. He began performing comedy shortly after the second time he dropped out of community college. A native Oaklander, his material is often drawn from his life growing up in the East Bay, his reluctant judaism, and general annoyance with everyday life. His fast paced and intense conversational style has audiences all over the west coast laughing. Prior to pursuing being a stand up comedian, Daniel lived a life of banality and petty crime, including but not limited to: stealing 4 packs of Red Bull energy drink from Walgreens (a store chain that he is banned from, yet still shops at on a regular basis), graffiti, and throwing bricks at the library near his grandmas house.

Mario Hodge | Assault

(Opened for Charlie Murphy and Tony Roberts)

Comedian Mario Hodge was born & raised in Oakland, Ca, his comedy influences come from the likes of Richard Pryor, Tommy Davidson, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, & Tony Roberts. Mario has a unique high energy animated style of comedy. He’s able to paint a picture & make you visualize his jokes as he performs them. He has worked with Charlie Murphy, Luenell, Mark Curry, Guy Tory, Eddie Griffin, & Tony Roberts….

Stefani Silverman | Criminal Defense Attorney

(Comedy Day, Cobb’s)

Stefani Silverman is a San Francisco based comic dedicated to finding meaning in life through humor. A former attorney, she uses her hard earned critical thinking skills to talk about such complex topics as life in San Francisco, sex and and things she finds on the sidewalk. Mostly observational, increasingly self revelatory, Stefani’s comedy gets you laughing keeps you thinking.

Comedy lineup (like all things in life) is subject to change.
