Guy Fieri Awards $25k to Oakland Taqueria

Thanks to SF Gate for sharing the uplifting story that Oakland restaurant Maya Halal Taqueria was just awarded a $25,000 grant from Guy Fieri.

The celebrity chef and Food Network star, Guy Fieri, has a new streaming show, “Guy’s Restaurant Reboot” which he awards grants to restaurant owners to help them their businesses survive through the pandemic.

Uniquely, Maya Halal Taqueria is the first Mexican halal restaurant to open in the Bay Area. In addition to taqueria favorites, they also have a Cheeto Burrito which stuffs hot Cheetos into the burrito.  The 3 year old restaurant is located in downtown Oakland at 346 14th Street.
