San Francisco’s mid-Market IKEA opened August 23, 2023, but the much anticipated adjacent 23,000-square-foot food market is finally opening on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Thanks to KRON4 for sharing the details.

The two-level Saluhall is a Swedish-inspired, plant-forward food hall featuring 8 eateries, 3 bars, and a cooking school.

You’ll have a choice of dining options including:

  • Curry Up Now, a fast-casual chain, featuring Indian street food including vegan menu items like their Hella Vegan Bowl and a Deconstructed Samosa
  • Casa Boriqueña, a 100% plant-based Puerto Rican restaurant featuring empanadas, rice plates, desserts and more
  • Momo Noodle, which made San Francisco Chronicle’s “Best Bay Area Food Trucks” list, serving up Chinese dry stirred noodles and  plant-based delights like homemade tofu rice noodles
  • La Venganza, a cruelty-free taqueria that won ‘Best Los Angeles Taco’ from the Taco Madness competition against 32 non-vegan competitors.
  • Kayma, the first Algerian restaurant in the Bay Area features authentic 100% Halal Algerian dishes using grandma’s recipes
  • Snöberg,  100% dairy-free soft serve featuring inventive toppings like unicorn dust and freshly baked Feuilletine flakes
  • Smörgåsland, an all-day Scandinavian-inspired bakery by Claus Meyer, co-founder of the critically acclaimed restaurant Noma in Cophagen
  • Burgare Bar, a plant-based burger joint starring Beyond Meat in creative creations like its Smorrebun with house roe, smoked cheese and crispy onions

Plus Saluhall is home to three great bars. The Lagom Bar is home to a mix of house classics alongside low and no-alcohol offers to get you started. Upstairs at the Punsch Bar, you’ll find our full menu alongside Nordic-inspired cocktails. At the Sauna, find classic cocktails for the serious drinker.

The cooking school, Cooking Skola, offers hands-on classes, led by experienced chef instructors, in private and group instruction. Whether you’re a cooking novice or a seasoned home chef, the classes can teach you kitchen basics, or go deeper and delve into Nordic baking, or explore culinary techniques and local produce.

The food hall tenants have been carefully curated by British firm Kerb, which brought London its popular food hall Seven Dials Market. The food hall will have seating for 450 guests and 11 different food and beverage spots. The other tenants in the six-story mall on the upper levels are yet to be announced.
