SF’s Colorful Golden Gate Park Show Wins “Best Fireworks” Design Award
Judy Chicago’s multicolored, site-specific Atmospheres performance: Forever de Young just won Wallpaper* Design Awards 2022’s Best Fireworks award.
The artist performed the open-air smoke sculpture performance outside the de Young museum on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Golden Gate Park, in celebration of the artist’s exhibition Judy Chicago: A Retrospective, now on view at the de Young museum. Her work is also featured on the limited-edition subscriber cover for the issue.
Her performance featured a 27-ft scaffolding pyramid in front of the museum which sent gigantic colorful nontoxic plumes of smoke into the air topped with a fireworks finale.
