Enjoy a fun-packed and car-free Sunday to celebrate the transformation of the neighborhood around Lake Merritt on June 9, 2013.

Walk, bike, stroll, dance, paddle and pedal Lake Merritt on three miles of mostly car-free streets. Activities include salsa by the lake, food trucks (Snow Park and E 16th St), free bike rentals including tandems, tennis, $5 gondola rides, half-price boat rentals, bike repair, live music, and people watching.

At 2 pm, join Mayor Jean Quan on the south end of the lake for the Grand Opening of Lake Merritt Boulevard featuring a beautiful new amphitheater and a brand new four-acre park situated at the south end of Lake Merritt which used to be a very short freeway.
