NewPark Mall’s former Macy’s is being reborn as a massive T&T Supermarket with bakery, sushi, and more

A massive Bay Area grocery takeover is coming to Newark. T&T Supermarket is moving into the former Macy’s at NewPark Mall, turning the empty department store into a 72,600-square-foot Asian grocery flagship, the largest California location for the Canadian chain.

The store will be a full-scale destination market, not just a grocery run. Expect a big bakery, prepared foods, sushi, hot food counters, and shelves stacked with Asian pantry staples, imported snacks, and specialty items you won’t typically find in mainstream supermarkets.

It’s part of a fast Bay Area expansion for T&T, following its San Jose debut, with more locations planned in San Francisco’s City Center mall and Millbrae over the next couple of years.

In Newark, it also signals another big shift for NewPark Mall as former anchor spaces get reimagined. The new store is expected to open in late 2027.
