Massive 40 ft Waves Bring Out World Class Surfers to Mavericks
In case you missed it, massive waves took over the Northern California shoreline last week which attracted some of the world’s best surfers to Mavericks to catch some waves.
On Tuesday, December 10, CBS Bay Area headed to Mavericks, the famous surfing area just north of Half Moon Bay, to see these talented surfers tackle 30–to-40 foot waves that were breaking just off Pillar Point.
Spectators came out to watch surfing legends ride the monster waves, which haven’t been seen in several years.

😲Impressive surf at Carmel Point with the iconic Butterfly House in the foreground. Needless to say, but the High Surf Warning is verifying. Stay safe and avoid the ocean today, it’s dangerous. 🌊🌊🌊 📷NWS Employee – SA #cawx #casurf pic.twitter.com/To1ZRWHGau
