Muni Fares Set to Go Up Starting January 1
Thanks to SF Gate for sharing the unfortunate news that Muni fares are set to go up on New Year’s Day.
Effective January 1, 2025, some of the Muni fares are changing. Changes include both increases and decreases, based on public feedback received during the Muni budget process in spring 2024. See updated prices in the table below. Note that the fares not listed remain the same.
Fare | Current Price | New Price |
Single ride | $2.50 | $2.75 |
Single ride for seniors/people with disabilities | $1.25 | $1.35 |
Single START ride (for people on a limited income) | $1.25 | $1.35 |
Day pass | $5.00 | $5.50 |
“M Pass” (Monthy pass for Muni and cable car) | $81.00 | $85.00 |
“A Pass” (Monthy pass for Muni, BART in SF, and cable car) | $98.00 | $102.00 |
Monthly pass for seniors/people with disabilities | $40.00 | $43.00 |
Monthly pass for people on a limited income) | $40.00 | $43.00 |
The Clipper and MuniMobile discount will be reduced from 0.50 cents to 0.25 cents to help offset our rising costs while minimizing the impact on customers. Cash fare will remain the same at $3.00.
After feedback collected from the public, these fare changes were included as part of the SFMTA’s 2024-2026 budget, which began on July 1, 2024. Thank you to everyone who participated in the public feedback process that helped shape our budget.
