Oakland’s newest testing facility, located at the old Kaiser Convention Center parking lot, expands beyond testing our healthcare workers to include more of our essential workers who are also vulnerable, working the front lines. While currently there’s not enough tests for everyone who’d like to be tested, the city’s initial goal is to protect those who are taking care of all of us while we stay home.

According to ABC7, these essential workers include:

  • Healthcare Providers
  • Grocery Store, Food Bank and Restaurant Workers
  • Homeless Service Providers
  • Funeral Home Providers
  • Childcare Workers
  • Residential and Shelter Caregivers

The location is a drive-up site that’s equipped to administer 240 tests a day. Tests are by appointment only. If you’re an essential worker and you unfortunately feel ill and would like a test, please contact your employer. Your employer should reach out to the city of Oakland to set up an appointment for a test.

If you have questions, email covid19testing@oaklandca.gov.
