Oakland’s Starline Social Club Closing Down
Unfortunately, Oakland’s Starline Social Club has announced it is closing.
The club took to Instagram to announce that the club is going up for sale and will cease operations on January 1 after their last show on New Year’s Eve.
Thanks to KQED for sharing the news about the final hurrah will feature local Panamanian hip-hop duo Los Rakas. The nightclub opened in 2015 and quickly established itself as a fixture in Oakland nightlife. Famous acts that graced the stage include comedian Hannibal Burress, Solange and Mitski.
If the news sounds familiar, you’re right. This isn’t the first time the club has announced its closure. In late 2020, the club stated it was going to sell the building and the business. It was listed for $3.2 million, but months later, the club re-opened as a worker-owned co-op.
Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be any saving the business for now. All future shows have been rescheduled for other local venues. If you plan to visit the venue one last time, there are still four more shows left on December 28, 29, 30, and 31st.
