Outdoor patios, sidewalk dining and rooftop bars – A huge list SF restaurants back for outdoor dining

It took a lot of legwork and phone calls, but we’ve uncovered 129 restaurants and bars (so far) that are opening for outdoor dining.

Here’s our list. Please note we’ve done our best to get all the details correct, but hours of operation and menus may change without notice during these early days so please contact the restaurant to confirm first before heading out.

  • Mission Dist.Mission Bowling Club – Although bowling isn’t open yet, their green front patio is open for outdoor dining with 9 beers on tap, full bar delish Mission Burger, fried chicken and you can “take and bake” pretzels for cooking at home.
  • SoMaJersey – Town Hall’s fried chicken, East Coast pizza, falafel fritters and jersey chopped salads plus beer and wine. Outdoor dining available.
  • SoMaLao TableHappy Hour – Stylish “East Cut” Thai restaurant with outdoor patio, a $12 “Back to Basics” menu served in eco-friendly banana leaf packaging (instead of plastic containers) plus M-F happy hour 4pm to 7pm with $1 oysters, $3.50 beer, $7 wine and cocktails.
  • SoMaSAJJ Mediterranean – Fast casual retaurant on 2nd near Brannan serving healthy and customizable Mediterranean food has reopened outdoor patio dining at locations across the Bay Area
  • TenderloinGrubstake – Late night spot with outdoor dining on patio open until Midnight with burgers, steak & eggs, breakfast specials and beer and wine. Closed Mondays.

  • Mission BaySpark Social SFHappy Hour – Food truck park with fire pits and double-decker bus opening on Wednesday June 17th with new social distancing circles on the lawn, limited seating. Happy hour Mon-Fri 4-7p $5 sangrias, $6 wines.

  • Castro Mix Neighborhood Bar – Small gay bar spilling out onto the 18th Street sidewalk. Not sure if they are supposed to open yet, but it’s been a lively scene recently.
  • Castro Oz Burger – Burgers, fries and shakes with a few outdoor tables. Probably the ugliest outdoor signage of any restaurant in SF.
  • Castro Oz Pizza – Giant thin-crust slices w/ unusual flavors (figgy piggy and ostrich) plus chocolate covered bacon and beer. Four sidewalk tables
  • Castro Project Juice – Juices, paleo waffles, superfood smoothie bowls. Open for contactless delivery with two tables in front.
  • Castro Qualitea – Bubble tea shop on 18th near Noe with two tables out front.

For the first time ever, Tony’s opens its (out)doors to guests every day of the week (previously closed on Tuesdays). Wednesday-Sunday from 12-10 p.m.; Monday-Tuesday from 12-8 p.m.

  • Outer SunsetThe Irish Center – United Irish Culture Center hosts pop-up outdoor beer garden in their parking lot on 45th Ave. beverages and bites. They were open June 12-13 and planning again possbily on June 19 or June 26th. Check Instagram for updates.
  • ParkmercedThe Lister Bar / Hall of Flame – Bar with large backdoor patio serves Hall of Flame burgers. Reopening June 14th from Noon to 10pm and will be piloting a new reservations system. so be patient
  • Potrero HillMochicaHappy Hour – Peruvian-inspired restaurant with signature Peruvian cocktails has reopened patio dining Tue-Thu (4-9p) and Fri-Sun (11a-10p). Closed Mondays. Happy hour is Tue-Sun from 4-5:30pm
  • Potrero HillTorraku Ramen – SF Ramen Truck’s brick and mortar location on Deharo open for patio dining serving up ramen, Japanese beer and sake.
  • Russian HillThe New Spot on Polk – Family-owned diner serving breakfast all day open outdoor sidewalk dining from 8am to 7pm (but closes early at 2pm on Wed & Thu). Dog-friendly, outdoor street side seating with a covering awning, and heating for the outdoors coming soon.
  • SoMa54 Mint – Modern Italian trattoria tucked into Mint Plaza reopening patio dining Monday, June 15th
  • SoMaBarcha – Large heated patio serving seasonal Mediterranean fare at 28 Fremont opens Monday, June 15th at 11:30am
  • SoMaBlack Hammer BreweryHappy Hour – Bryant St. brew pub serving crowlers and cans of fresh beer and hot German comfort food. New sidewalk patio for 40 people opens Monday, June 15th. Happy hour 5-6pm everyday get monster-sized stein liters for half-price.
  • SoMaJersey – Town Hall’s fried chicken, East Coast pizza, falafel fritters and jersey chopped salads plus beer and wine. Outdoor dining available.
  • SoMaLao TableHappy Hour – Stylish “East Cut” Thai restaurant with outdoor patio, a $12 “Back to Basics” menu served in eco-friendly banana leaf packaging (instead of plastic containers) plus M-F happy hour 4pm to 7pm with $1 oysters, $3.50 beer, $7 wine and cocktails.
  • SoMaMars Bar & Restauant – 7th and Brannan spot with full bar, kitche with lots of organic options, and two huge outside patios (one heated). Currently open 12-7 for outdoor dining but probably will expand our hours later into the evening on Thursday and Friday especially if the weather gets warmer.
  • SoMaRooh – Progressive Indian menu and cocktail bar on Brannan starting outdoor dining on Friday, June 12th with about 8-10 tables. Tuesday-Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • SoMaSAJJ Mediterranean – Fast casual retaurant on 2nd near Brannan serving healthy and customizable Mediterranean food has reopened outdoor patio dining at locations across the Bay Area
  • SoMaYank Sing – Starting June 20th traditional and contemporary Dim Sum location on Steverson opening patio dining from 11am to 3pm every day
  • TenderloinGrubstake – Late night spot with outdoor dining on patio open until Midnight with burgers, steak & eggs, breakfast specials and beer and wine. Closed Mondays.
  • Treasure IslandMersea – Amazing view of San Francisco from unique container-style restaurant and bar. Courtyard reopening on June 12th
  • Union Square620 Jones – Garden patio overlooking Geary with big huge umbrellas and blankets if it gets cold. Pizza and fried chicken with chipotle mayo plus Watermelon Basil Cooler, and Blue Pea Flower Jasmine Lemonade. Already open (shhhhhh) Closed Mondays.
  • Union SquareLe Colonial – French-Vietnamese villa in a alleyway in the old Trader Vics spot with an atrrium-style patio with ceiling fans and rattan decor reopening on Father’s Day (June 21st 3 to 8) and then opening slowly starting June 25th
  • Union SquareONE65 Patisserie – World-class chef serves sophisticated desserts and light bites literally right on Union Square opening patio on Monday, June 15th
  • West PortalSquat & Gobble – Creperie and brunch spot (plus massive burgers) opens its patio on June 12th
  • Western AdditionScopo Divino – Wine bar at California & Divisadero starts outdoor dining on Monday June 15th from 3-10pm with live music Wednesday and Thursdays.
