Thanks to ABC7 for sharing the news that the San Bruno mall, The Shops at Tanforan, will be closing. The 51-year-old mall originally opened in 1971.
The mall was recently purchased by a Los Angeles-based developer who plans to transform the property into an office campus for biotech firm.
Before the area became a shopping mall, the area served as a racetrack where Seabiscuit was stabled, an airfield, and also as an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II.
