Historic Pier 70 transforms into a drive-in theater, complete with dinner delivered to your car

Pier 70 Dinner and A Drive-In brings outdoor movie magic to historic Pier 70 in Dogpatch, Saturday evenings October 17-October 31 to benefit La Cocina and to help low-income food entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

Brookfield Properties is presenting the series in partnership with locally owned and operated independent theaters, including San Francisco’s Roxie Cinema, Vogue Theater and Balboa Theater. Tickets are $65 per vehicle and include two meal packages. The Pier 70 Dinner and A Drive-In line-up kicks-off with science fiction cult favorite “Blade Runner: The Final Cut,” followed by comedy and drama “Blindspotting,” which was filmed in Oakland, and then science fiction horror classic “Invasion of the Body Snatcherson Halloween.

The portable powerhouse screen for the shows is ninety times brighter than a standard movie theater projection. Attendees tune in to a radio station for the audio. The unique movie venue is in the Pier 70 historic district, once home to major shipbuilding, and where Brookfield Properties is building a new 28-acre neighborhood with housing, offices, parks, and space for artists and local manufacturing, and rehabilitated historic buildings.

Moviegoers’ health and safety is a priority. Each show will be limited to 46 vehicles parked in marked socially-distanced spots. Ticket holders are required to wear face coverings and encouraged to remain in their vehicles. Meals will be delivered by La Cocina to cars through contactless delivery.
