Need to beat the heat, San Francisco?

Sure, it’s free to swin in Ocean Beach and Aquatic Park, but here’s all of SF’s public pools plus details on how to get free entry.

Through the SF Public Library’s “Discover & Go” pass you can get free entry into almost all of San Francisco’s public pools for two adults and up to four children.

Times, costs and details can change and were accurate as of 9/1/17, so please make sure to visit the pool website or call the pool to confirm before heading out.

Coffman Pool

The 10,000-square-foot Coffman Pool, originally built in 1957, was refreshed in 2008, and is located on Visitacion Avenue and Hahn Streets within Herz Playground at the southeastern entrance of McLaren Park. A hidden gem for city swimmers, Coffman offers a variety of swim programs for all ages, including recreational swim, learn-to-swim classes, water aerobics, underwater hockey and lap swim.

Garfield Pool

A favorite swimming spot for locals, Garfield Swimming Pool offers an array of classes and programs, from learn-to-swim, lap and recreational swims for tots, youths, adults and seniors.

Hamilton Pool

Martin Luther King Jr Pool

Another hidden pool gem, MLK Pool features a 25-yard x 25-meter pool and a separate wading pool for tots. Aquatic programs include learn-to-swim programs, water aerobics, recreational swim and lap swim.

Mission Community Pool

The 4,565 square foot Mission Pool was constructed in 1916, and is located on 19th Street between Linda and Valencia Streets in the Mission District. It’s the only City-operated outdoor pool in San Francisco, offering a 90′ x 40′ pool for learn-to-swim, recreational and lap swim programs during the summer months and beyond.

North Beach Pool

Renovated in 2005 to accommodate more users and programs, North Beach Swimming Pool has long been a neighborhood destination for swimmers of all ages. The facility features two pools (a 25-meter x 21′ lap pool and a 89′ x 21′ recreation pool) to accommodate a variety of aquatic programs and needs.

Rossi Pool

A favorite swimming spot for locals in the Richmond District, Rossi Swimming Pool offers an array of classes and programs, from learn-to-swim, lap and recreational swims for tots, youths, adults and seniors.

Sava Pool

A neighborhood favorite, Sava Pool reopened in 2009 after a $17 million renovation. It features a 25-yard, eight-lane multi-purpose pool that accommodates recreation, lap and competitive swimming. The unique design of the building maximizes the use of natural lighting and ventilation with rooftop monitors and a south facing window wall.

Balboa Pool

Balboa pool is closed for capital improvements and will re-open in fall of 2017.

Balboa Swimming Pool is one of eight public swimming pools in the city. Featuring dimensions of 100’ x 40’ and six lanes, Balboa Pool has long been one of the city’s most popular sites for recreational and lap swims.
