Thank you to the SF Examiner for letting us that San Francisco bike shops are booming during the pandemic.

As many small businesses struggle to stay alive during the COVID-19 pandemic, bike shops are doing well as popular bike routes are crammed with cyclists, many people are taking their bikes in for repairs and new bikes are selling like… well… burritos.

Bike shops are considered “essential”, with so many people choosing to travel by two wheels. Many streets have been shutdown to cars and made more bike-friendly. Plus, bikes have emerged as a more socially-distant commuter option to avoid crowded buses and trains. With gyms closed, biking is great for exercise. And it’s a great way to get out of your immediate neighborhood and see something new for a change.

For now, you can enjoy the open air, get your heart pumping but please be responsible, practice social distancing, and do your part to help stop the spread of the virus. San Francisco Bicycle Coalition gave a list of recommended safety precautions for folks biking amid the pandemic.
