Thanks to KRON4 for sharing the news that Cruise autonomous vehicles will no longer be sharing the roads in San Francisco.

Cruise recently announced on Thursday, October 26, 2023, that it’s pulling all of its driverless vehicles off the roads across the country which includes operations in San Francisco, Phoenix, and Austin. Earlier this week, on October 24, 2023, The California DMV notified Cruise that the department is suspending Cruise’s autonomous vehicle deployment and driverless testing permits, effective immediately, due to “an unreasonable risk to public safety.”

The autonomous cars have been involved in various crashes and have even driven into construction zones. Cruise notes that no one accident has prompted the decision to remove the vehicles from the road, but they will be taking steps to rebuilt public trust.
