Opening night for Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be bigger than ever with the return of Opera at the Ballpark, a free community event held at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.
Enjoy your opera with a side of garlic fries, in one of the most scenic venues in town as Opera in the Ballpark returns for the opening night of “La Traviata” on November 11, 2022.
Now, you can experience San Francisco Opera’s all-new production of “La Traviata” two different ways: in-person at the War Memorial Opera House or at the ballpark, on a gigantic 153-foot screen.
See “La Traviata” like you never have before: For the first time in 35 years, San Francisco Opera is unveiling a brand-new production, with sets built locally in the Bay Area and tailored to the War Memorial Opera House stage.
With “La Traviata,” you’re invited to the ritziest salon in Paris, hosted by the beautiful courtesan Violetta Valéry. Relationships are business for Valéry — and love is too expensive a price to pay. Or so she thinks. Confronted by an achingly naive young man from Provence, Valéry finds her heart melting. Perhaps true love is worth giving up a high-powered life of wealth and influence — but will she be able to escape the stigmas of her past?
