Santa Clara County Fairgrounds Now a Shelter

San Jose’s most vulnerable citizens move in this week to help combat the spread

Not everyone is fortunate enough to stay at home during this pandemic. In order to help fight the spread of COVID-19 among some of our most vulnerable citizens, Santa Clara County Fairgrounds will soon become a temporary homeless shelter.

The site currently serves as a drive thru COVID-19 testing site. However, the site covers 150 acres, so there’s enough space for both the testing facility as well as the new shelter.

Over 100 people who are currently housed in Santa Clara County shelters will start moving in as early as next week. In addition to the shelter, which will be housed in the pavillion buildings, they’ll also have 15 trailers on site which will host homeless COVID-19 patients that don’t need hospitalization, but require isolation.
