Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Reopens November 7th
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, California’s oldest amusement park (est. 1907), will be the first theme park in the state to reopen, after a 7 month closure.
Mayor Newsom announced recently that smaller amusements parks counties in Tier 3, with a capacity of less than 15,000 guests, can reopen at 25% capacity or 500 in-county visitors, whichever is fewer. Admission will only be allowed on a reservation basis.
UPDATE – As of November 11, Boardwalk rides and mini golf are now re-closed due to Santa Cruz County re-entering the “Red” Tier. Outdoor games, shopping, Boardwalk racers, pedal karts remain open
Santa Cruz County is now in California’s Tier 3, the orange, or moderate, level, which allows the park to reopen in a limited capacity.

We are delighted to welcome Santa Cruz County residents back to enjoy a limited selection of Boardwalk rides!
Please note that while the rides are only available to Santa Cruz County residents, a large portion of the Boardwalk with outdoor arcade games, miniature golf, food, and shopping is open to ALL guests.
Enjoy a selection of outdoor arcade games, as well as limited food and shopping options. Boardwalk Bowl is now open. A limited selection of Boardwalk rides and mini golf will open on Sat., Nov. 7. State of California guidelines limit ride purchases to Santa Cruz County residents only and require advanced reservations. Indoor arcades remain closed due to COVID‑19 restrictions.

- Lighthouse Liftoff
- Kiddie Cruzers
- Fireball
- Sea Swings
- Undertow
There’s two additional smaller amusement parks in the Bay Area, both in Contra Costa County, which are eligible to reopen under the state’s new guidelines; however, both do not have plans to reopen at this time.
OC Register has reported that Pittsburg’s Small World Park will not be reopening until spring 2021, as they usually close for the winter anyhow, and Concord’s Pixieland states it’ll be closed through the end of 2020.
