SF’s New Coastal Skate Park Opens at Sunset Dunes
San Francisco’s new Sunset Dunes park on the city’s west side is now home to a fresh set of skate features designed for riders of all levels. The new additions include a bank, quarter pipe, island feature, and several creatively crafted elements made from upcycled granite. The skate features, part of an $80,000 project at Sunset Dunes, are located next to the existing bike pump track and bike skills course, which was completed in April of this year.
The park itself is brand new, having opened in April as a coastal destination that offers expanded seating, interactive art, and plenty of space for community events. Until now, the west side of San Francisco hasn’t had dedicated skate infrastructure since 2022, so these new features fill a long-standing gap and provide local skaters with a place to practice and hang out near the beach.
Part of an $80,000 project, the skate elements are positioned near the Sloat Boulevard entrance and are designed as interim installations that can be moved or removed as the park continues to evolve. Sunset Dunes’ new skate spot offers a fresh place to grind with ocean views.
