SF Pays Displaced Mission Street Vendors $1,000
Thanks to CBS News for sharing the story that Mission Street vendors who have been displaced are being offered $1,000.
San Francisco has cracked down on illegal street vending on Mission Street by implementing a temporary 90-day ban to help tackle unpermitted street vendors selling illegal goods. However, those with legal permits to vend are suffering. Although San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development has set up two locations for the vendors to sell indoors, there hasn’t been much foot traffic.
As a form of relief, the city is offering a one-time aid package of $1,000 to approximately 40 permitted street vendors. Additional support includes business consultation, workforce training, and holiday-themed events. Displaced vendors say it’s not enough and just want to get back to setting up shop on the street again.
You are encouraged to Shop the Mission. Throughout the holiday season and beyond, the City is collaborating with the community to celebrate and showcase the local businesses and street vendors that make this neighborhood special. The City is hosting free, family-friendly community events to discover, experience, and Shop the Mission. Learn more about the vendors and their products.
