San Francisco’s $100 Burning Man Car Wash

Keep those rags and machines humming… the cars are back from Burning Man

San Francisco car wash Divisadero Touchless Car Wash on Fell St. wants to touch the cars coming home from Burning Man even less. But they will…  for a price.

So they’re charging $100 for a wash if the car is coming back from the Playa when they normally charge between $30 and $39 for cars that don’t have every crevice permeated with dust.

And that doesn’t even include cleaning the engine or the ventilation systems. You’re on your own for that.

Co-owner Patty Shimek told the San Francisco Chronicle cars returning from the big BM are just a hassle to clean.

Covered in dust, dirt, left over pasties, regret, (and this year, bugs) these cars take multiple washes – needing to go through the car wash three times – and sometimes even wreck the cleaning equipment.

According to Shimek, most of the time they are rental cars anyway, so people will pay anything to not incur an even more expensive rental fee upwards of $500 for delivering a desert beaten car.

This car wash might get rich, but they’d probably rather dig a ditch and fill it with all these Burner cars.
