SF’s 111-Year Old Pioneer Log Cabin Soon Available for Rent
Thanks to SF Gate for sharing the news that the historic Pioneer Log Cabin in Golden Gate Park will soon be available to rent. The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department hopes to have the 111-year-old cabin available to rent by mid-2023.
The department had planned to make the space available for private events prior to the COVID pandemic kicking off, but obviously, the pandemic stalled their plans as events were put on hold.
The cabin was originally built for the Association of Pioneer Women of California after the 1906 earthquake destroyed their meeting space in the Financial District. Using redwood logs floated down from Mendicino County, the private cabin was dedicated on October 28, 1911. The cabin was in use until the 1970s when the association disbanded.
For a short stint from 1998 to 2020, the cabin housed the permit office for the Parks Department, and now the charming space can be yours for the day.
