SF’s Castro Theatre Movies Return (June 2021)
Thanks to Broke-Ass Stuart for digging up the news that SF’s iconic Castro Theater has finally scheduled its first movie screenings in more than a year.
Although a full reopening isn’t planned yet, the first indoor screenings at the nearly 99-year-old theater are set for the Frameline LGBTQ Film Festival in June along with some comedy events in July.

The Frameline festival runs from June 10-27, but exact movie dates have yet to be announced. Tickets will go on sale on May 25, and we’re assuming the specific movie dates will be announced by then
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Castro plans a “full state” of bookings later in 2021. And we hope that the mighty Wurlitzer organ will be back too!
