Dust off your boots — a brand-new monthly street party is launching in downtown San Francisco.

Starting May 1, 2025, Downtown Hoedown will take over Front Street on the first Thursday of each month through October. It’s part of the expanding Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) series, and it’s free and open to all ages.

Expect a full evening of country-western fun, including:

  • A mechanical bull
  • Line dancing lessons for all skill levels
  • Live bluegrass and country music
  • A giant disco bison art installation
  • Country-themed surprises and activities

The Downtown Hoedown will run alongside the already-popular DFT: Downtown First Thursdays Party, offering even more ways to enjoy music, food, drinks, and outdoor festivities in the heart of the city’s newly designated Entertainment Zone.

The event kicks off at 5pm and continues until 10pm. Organizers encourage attendees to come dressed in their best Western gear — think cowboy hats, boots, denim, fringe, and sparkle. RSVP for May 1 Hoedown

On opening night, the Lower Haight Line Dancing group will lead the dance floor, with live performances from Jose Canchola and Sofia Claire bringing a mix of country roots and rock. WILD WEST, fresh off a Hunky Jesus Pageant win, will emcee the festivities.
