SF’s “No Fault” Eviction Ban Through March 2021

Board of Supervisors passes “no fault” eviction ban to further protect people from losing their homes

Thanks to KRON4 for letting us know that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors recently passed a “no fault” eviction ban.

Currently, people in San Francisco are already protected from evictions in the case that they are struggling to pay due to COVID-19-related financial struggles.

But this new ban expands eviction protection to cover cases like when property owners attempt evict people because they say they are doing construction, demolishing the home, or doing an “owner move-in.” In other words, when the eviction is not due to the fault of the tenant not paying rent.

The “no fault” eviction ban will be in place until March 2021.
