The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the kabuki-inspired cross-dressing nuns-of-fun, host their 38th Easter Sunday in the Park at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park.

There’s a family-friendly Children’s Easter celebration at 10 am, but the real fun follows after the kids head home with adult-friendly fare like the Easter Bonnet Contest, drag kings and queens, an exorcism ceremony of Donald Trump, and everyone’s favorite blasphemous hoot – the Hunky Jesus contest.

The Sisters 38th Anniversary Easter Party
Sunday, April 16, 2017 | 10 am to 4 pm
Hellman Hollow (JFK Drive near 26th Ave.), Golden Gate Park
FREE

  • 10am – Children’s Easter Activities (Family Friendly)
  • Noon – Kids should go home… Live music, burlesque, drag kings & queens, Donald Trump exorcism
  • 2:30pm – Easter Bonnet, Foxy Mary & Hunky Jesus Contests

Getting There: The easiest way to get to Hellman’s Hollow @ Golden Gate Park is by MUNI! For your information those lines are the 5 bus, the 7 bus, the 28 bus, the 29 bus, and the N-Judah. The N-Judah does involve a few blocks of walking from 19th and Judah.

The 2017 celebration will, once again, be held at the fabulous and very spacious Hellman Hollow in beautiful Golden Gate Park. They even have a back up space in the park in the event of rain, but they are cautiously optimistic it will be a fabulous day.

This year’s theme is “Sanctuary: Universal Joy”, a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love – transforming the event into a safe place for all people where only love, joy, peace and harmony take place. Let the sunshine in.

Please note, bring your own trash bags to help keep the place clean and tidy. And don’t forget your snacks, drinks, sunscreem and lots of water. In case of bad weather, visit thesisters.org and their Facebook page for location updates.
