SF’s Iconic Drag Nightclub Oasis Closing At End of the Year
Oasis, the longtime queer nightclub and cabaret space at 11th and Folsom, will close permanently on January 1, 2026, with its final event set for New Year’s Eve.
Open since 2014, the club quickly became a nightlife fixture, known for over-the-top drag shows, campy theatrical productions, and big-name appearances from the likes of Jane Fonda, Lil Nas X, and dozens of RuPaul’s Drag Race stars. More than just a performance venue, Oasis also served as a community gathering space during key cultural moments—from election night watch parties to tributes for its late co-founder Heklina.
Despite a devoted following, the club has struggled financially in recent years. Owner D’Arcy Drollinger, who was appointed San Francisco’s first Drag Laureate in 2023, says the venue has faced increasing operational costs—including higher insurance and security following a 2024 armed robbery—while attendance and bar sales have declined. Multiple efforts to secure operational grants also came up short, forcing the decision to shut down after more than a decade.
While the physical space is closing, the spirit of Oasis will continue through Oasis Arts, a nonprofit that will carry on the club’s mission of supporting queer performance in venues across San Francisco and beyond. The organization plans to pause and reassess in early 2026 but will continue producing drag, theater, and community-centered events in new forms. In the meantime, fans can support by attending final shows through the end of the year or donating directly at oasisartsinc.org/donate.
