Watch an enchanting parade of giant lit up jellyfish as they swim their way through Union Square.

Illuminated Jellyfish Flashmob
Thursday, December 21, 2017 | 7-9p
Union Square | 333 Post St, San Francisco
FREE to Watch

Please note that if you want to participate in the workshop, it’s $65, or you can just watch the spectacle for free.

If you’d like to handle the jellyfish, you can take a paid workshop. In the workshop, you’ll learn the history of their flashmob gathering and practice handling the jellyfish puppets. Then you’ll channel your inner invertebrate by undulating your illuminated jellyfish mega-puppets through the streets of San Francisco alongside new and veteran performers.

You’ll practice several formations and surprise and delight unsuspecting bystanders with this dreamy undersea world. If you don’t want to carry an 8-pound puppet for 60 to 90 minutes, you can be a backup or intermittent jellyfish performer, or share a jellyfish puppet with another participant. They’ll also help you remember the experience with a professional photo of you participating in the flashmob.
