Friday, December 16, 2016 | 8 pm
SPARK Social SF, 601 Mission Bay Blvd N, SF
FREE to watch,
or battle for free if bring your own lightsaber

Don’t have a Lightsaber? For $10 you can reserve your lightsaber and have it waiting for you at the event. Each Lightsaber changes up to 6 colors, and is about 3′ long.

Pick a side of the force and use that venerable, ancient, glowing tool: the lightsaber, in the ultimate nocturnal showdown. After all the sabers have been distributed, you will gather, split into Jedi and Sith, and the battle will begin. May the force be with you. In the past, they have attracted up to 2,000 warriors in New York City and Toronto, and they expect even more in San Francisco.

Where is the battle taking place? As of now, it’s at SPARK Social SF, but the location has changed a few times, so please check Facebook before heading out.

Q: Who is Newmindspace?

Newmindspace produces free, fun events around North America, including 5000-person pillow fights in New York City, giant games of Capture the Flag, and a 1000-person bubble battle in Dolores Park this past June. They were founded in 2005 and exist to reclaim public space and make “living installations” using favorite childhood activities and thousands of people.

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: Nope; they welcome Jedi and Sith of all ages at this event. You can bring your kids and grandparents.

Q: Do we get to keep the lightsabers we reserve afterward?

A: Yep

Q: Can I bring my super awesome custom lightsaber without reserving one of yours?

A: Totally

Q: If I bring my own lightsaber, do I still have to RSVP/pay/reserve a spot in any way?

A: No. Just show up; this event is free.

Q: How much are the lightsabers?

A: $10 plus handling

Q: If I don’t show up to claim my lightsaber, can I get a refund afterward?

A: No. They will be handing out lightsabers starting a little before 8 pm, and starting the event itself around 9 pm. If you do not show up to claim your lightsaber before the event begins, they reserve the right to give your lightsaber to somebody else, and not provide a refund.
